About Global Time (GT)

Global Time (GT) is a universal timekeeping system designed to eliminate the complications of time zones. Rather than having different local times around the globe, GT provides one standardized time for everyone. It is anchored to the J2000.0 epoch (January 1, 2000, 12:00:00 UTC) and measures time in a unique way:

  • A Global Day lasts 50 hours (180,000 seconds). This extended day replaces our traditional 24-hour cycle.
  • A Global Year is exactly 175.316 Global Days long. The year is divided into 7 months of 25 days each (totaling 175 days), with an additional intercalary period of approximately 0.316 of a day (about 15.8 hours) inserted at the end of each year to keep the system in sync with Earth's orbit.
  • The full GT date/time is expressed in the format YYYY-MM-DD HH:MM:SS.MMM:
    • YYYY: The GT year (starting at 0000 at the epoch).
    • MM: The GT month (01 to 07 for regular days; "00" indicates the intercalary period).
    • DD: The day within the GT month (01 to 25 for regular days; "00" for the intercalary period).
    • HH:MM:SS.MMM: The time within the Global Day (note that a full GT day spans 50 hours).

The reasoning behind GT is simple: by using one universal time, all the current local time zones are inherently covered. Whether you're in New York, Tokyo, or London, everyone uses the same GT. This greatly simplifies international scheduling and coordination, eliminates errors from time zone conversions, and reflects a modern, globally connected world.
